I have Windows XP and Workplace 2007 at home. Nonetheless, at school the personal computers have Windows XP and Business office 2003. Simply because the college computers are very limited, it is not possible to install the Workplace 2007 Compatibility Pack. I can access documents made in Company 2003 at home, even so at school I can’t open the Workplace 2007 documents I made at property. This brings about a lot of trouble.
Is there any way in which I would conserve all my Workplace 2007 files in the old file format (ie. make that the default)? And if so, does this get rid of any of the features of the Office 2007 document/improve the file dimensions/alter the document?
Could I make clear that I cannot change any of the configurations or install any new computer software or down load any updates on the school personal computers.
Does altering the file format into .doc from .docx change any of the formating or get rid of any of the particular features of an Company 2007 file?

There is a Microsoft Update that you can obtain for Company 2003 and XP that supports the new file format of Workplace 2007. Just do to Microsoft.com and search their internet site. Or, you could do a Microsoft Update from your personal computer.

Click on the Workplace button, (top rated left) , and then click Word Pptions.
Click on Conserve.
Beneath Conserve paperwork, following to Preserve files in this format, select Phrase 2003-97 Document (*.doc).

Download Microsoft Compatibility pack on the PC with the Older office to open the newer files
you can save your documents as .rtf which is rich text format. that way you can open them with Microsoft word or Wordpad incase its Word doesnt open.
Its also said .rtf files are not susceptible to viruses but am not sure about that!!
in excel 2007
- click the office button (big circle on top left with 4 squares)
- click Excel options (bottom right of menu)
- click save
- click box to the right of “save file in this format” and choose excel 97-2003
in word 2007- its the same steps
- click the office button (big circle on top left with 4 squares)
- click Word options (bottom right of menu)
- click save
- click box to the right of “save file in this format” and choose Word 97-2003
in excel, you will lose the excel 2007 extras (like any row over 64,500 (or something like that) and other 2007 stuff. im not sure about Word (but its probably the same, you will lose the 2007 only stuff)
