I really love the color and keyboard of this HP Pavilion dv4t series (www.shopping.hp.com) , but its a bit over my budget. I cannot decide if i should wait and hope Back to School sales offer a better deal or just get it. I get a student discount, but i just joined so im not sure what their sales will be at HP.

Currently the sale is $ 100 instant rebate, free 500gb 5400rpm, free 4gb upgrade, and free Norton. I also have a $ 50 coupon.

Here are my specs:

pacific blue

2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2310M Processor (2.1 GHz, 3MB L3 Cache)
Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 [HDMI, VGA]
FREE Upgrade to 4GB DDR3 System Memory (1 Dimm)
FREE Upgrade to 500GB 5400RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
No Additional Office Software
FREE Upgrade to Norton Internet Security(TM) 2011 – 15 Month Subscription (activation required)
6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (standard) – Up to 7.25 hours of battery life +++

SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
HP TrueVision HD Webcam with Integrated Digital Microphone

Im just going to be using it for surfing the web and writing papers so i figured the i3 processor would be sufficient. or not? I cant afford the i5 either way =/

Any input is welcome and appreciated.
$ 625 after everything including tax which is like $ 36
previous detail might be a bit confusing… laptop by itself is around $ 585

It only took the first sentence to tell me… you’re making a bad decision. HP. This company is changing their name to HPOS for horrible piece of sh–!

HP’s work great for the first three months than issues. Mark my words. Good luck.

Is it 625 before or after the rebate? because if its after the rebate, i dont think its worth that much. its definitly a nice sold computer but i think it should be a bit hceaper than that. id get it for 525 tho.

and dont listen to brand guys like the one above me. i have an hp ive been using for two years now no problem. my friend didnt like hp either and always claimed his samsung was better. then his hard drive went to shit, then his laptop wouldn’t charge its battery, then the keyboard stopped working, now it wont turn on. now i laugh at him because he always said mine was gunna just stop working one day, and his (which was only a year old) crapped out.
