ert with bitrate of 3600 and sound from ac3 to aac. Remote buddy is the app that I use to control it all with a remote. Now I’m testing mirow app from firecore which adds apps to frontrow like weather, browser, rss and even netflix! I’ll try to make an updated video this week on the new unibody Mini.

    Any questions? Comment

Sonic: frontrow will only play what iTunes can. So for movies it’s mp4 and m4v. After installing perian codecs it will play avi and mkv as well. But mkv on frontrow will shatter badly (if it’s in 720p or 1080p with multiple audio streams). Also it will not support subtitles. You can use boxee as it will play everything like vlc but I prefer frontrow for it’s interface. I just re-encode mkv files to mp4 with handbrake. I leave the original aspect ratio and resolution (1280×720 or 1920×1080) conv

Hi, I have been thinking about using my Mac as a media player but I have questions with playing content that is not on my Mac hard drive.

    1. Is it possible to configure this system to play movie files from an attached hard drive and if so can I do this through Front Row or will I have to use Boxee to watch movie content.

    2. Does Boxee or Front Row play MKV files as most movies I have are either MKV or AVI.

    3. How did you configure your Apple Remote to select apps from the dock???

    Cheers,
